SLQ News

The State Library of Queensland publishes a monthly newsletter, slqnews, which gives regular updates on news and events at the State Library. Also, see the What's On page for coming events.

National Archives

The monthly newsletter of the National Archives of Australia keeps you up to date with what's happening. It features news on our events and tips for researching their collection.

President's Notes

Your heritage in the kitchen

GSQ is developing a heritage cookbook that allows members not only to see their favourite family recipes in print, but to tell the story behind the recipes. Many recipes are handed down from grandmother, to mother, to daughter and, even though they may be adapted over time, they are a tangible reminder of our female ancestors.

GSQ members are invited to submit recipes, together with the stories behind them. What do these recipes tell you about your ancestor and your family's story? Would you like to share a photo of the ancestor concerned, the finished dish, or a family gathering?

The deadline for receipt of entries is 14 May 2012. Cost of the cookbook is yet to be determined. What a fantastic resource, or a gift for family members – a practical cookbook with tried and tested recipes and the stories behind them.

Please send your entries, including photos (copies only please, not originals), in hard copy to: Heritage Cookbook Project, Genealogical Society of Queensland, P.O. Box 8423, Woolloongabba, Qld. 4102.  Or via email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
