As a project to celebrate Queensland's 150th anniversary, the Genealogical Society of Queensland The project came about because of funding provided by the Queensland Government, through the Q150 Fund, and with the support of History Queensland.
Originally created as an Australian Bicentennial project in 1988, the Q150 project updated and added to the existing register, through contributions from GSQ members and other family historians. The register has captured such biographical details as birth and family; occupations, businesses and properties; death and burial; and names of spouses and children; as well as other known facts about the individual. The Muster Roll has been published as a CD, which is available for sale through our Online Shop or by completing the Order Form. The Muster Roll is a continuing project. You can submit details of you Queensland ancestors by completing the Data Entry form and forwarding it to GSQ. There are two versions of the form, a computer version which you can complete using Microsoft Word and a handwritten form. See also the instructions for data entry. The Muster Roll Index will be available online soon. Check the Index to see if your family is included. For a fee of $5.50 per entry, GSQ will send you a copy of the biographical details submitted for the Muster Roll. Just complete the Lookup Request form with the details from the Index and submit it with your payment to GSQ. Or pay for your lookups through our secure PayPal facility, making sure you tick the form to indicate you have paid online. As an associated project, GSQ has published a book 'Queenslanders: Pioneer Families 1859-1901', which tells the stories of some of these pioneers. You can purchase this book by mail order by completing and posting the Order Form, or through our Online Shop. |

(GSQ) developed the Queensland Muster Roll 1859-1901.
The Muster Roll is a biographical register of over 25,000 pioneers resident in the colony of Queensland between Separation in 1859 and Federation in 1901, an important period of Queensland's history, when it had its own unique identity, neither part of the colony of New South Wales nor a state in the Australian Federation.
