Courses are available for people who want to begin
their family history research, or for those unsure about what to
do next.
The introductory courses held by GSQ consist either
of an introductory session followed by four weekly classes of approximately
two hours each or an intensive program offered over one weekend.
Intermediate courses are available in three weekly classes of approximately
two hours each and a one day program or an intensive program offered
over one weekend.
Subjects covered at introductory level range from civil, census,
parish and immigration records, whereas the intermediate courses
cover wills and probate, using the internet to further your research
and features of some family history computer programs. We also cover
convicts, military research, writing your family's story, scrapbooking
your family's story, copyright & privacy issues and much more.
Classes are restricted to no more than 20 people to ensure that
there is sufficient time to assist class members with the assistance
they require to become independent researchers. Guidance will be
provided throughout the course to access the wide range of resources
available within the GSQ Library.
Tea and coffee are provided, but attendees will need to bring their
own lunch at the Sunday classes.
The cost of the course depends upon its length.
Full notes are provided and advice and guidance is offered by the
presenters. All classes will be held in the GSQ library at 38 Fisher
Street, East Brisbane.

classes between July and December.
Other courses are held by U3A. For enquires on courses available

Lectures and Seminars on aspects of genealogical research are held
at different times in Council libraries, the State Library and State
or National Archives.
