For members, the Society's research officers will provide
assistance to country and interstate members by searching records held at the
Society's resource centre. A research officer will undertake research for country
and interstate members at the Queensland State Archives and Queensland State
Library for a fee of $AU 16.50 per hour (including GST). The Society also has
a research officer resident in Sydney who will undertake research for members
at the Archives Office of NSW.
Note that the Society does not accept research enquiries by e-mail.
Any request for research, either in the GSQ library or at other institutions,
must be in writing, and include payment for the first hour of research.
Charges for any photocopying and printing (see below) will be forwarded
on completion of the research. Also stipulate the maximum number of hours
of research to be performed by library staff for each request. A large
stamped self-addressed envelope must always be included with each
request and membership number quoted.
When submitting a research request, please include all the information
you are sure is correct about the people concerned (names, dates, places),
along with specific questions for which you seek answers. This will ensure
that old ground is not covered again, and you get the information you are
looking for. It will save our time, and your money.
For non-members a fee of $AU 27.50 per hour (including GST) will
be charged. Additional charges for expenses such as photocopying may be
incurred.
Additional fees for research undertaken at the GSQ library may include
the following:
- computer print out - $AU 0.20
- fiche print out - $AU 0.55
- film print out - $AU 1.10
- book photocopy - $AU 0.20
Research conducted at other institutions may also incur copying and printing
fees as applicable.
