WELCOME TO THE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY OF QUEENSLAND
INC IN
BRISBANE
If you wish to research your family history and don’t know where to
start, or you are an experienced genealogist looking for ways around the
inevitable blocks, then the Genealogical Society of Queensland Inc. welcomes
you. The Society is headquartered in East Brisbane and is for all family
history enthusiasts, no matter their experience or areas of interest.
GSQ was formed in 1978 as a non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit organisation.
Its aim is to foster genealogical and family history research throughout
the State of Queensland. The Society’s main Library is located at 38
Fisher Street, East Brisbane, which is close to the Brisbane CBD and there
are branches at Bayside, Beaudesert, Brisbane Southern Suburbs, North Brisbane
and Redlands. In addition to our Branches, we have a number of active Interest
Groups who can provide specialist advice for those with research interests
in Scandinavia, Scotland, England, Ireland and Germany. The Computer Interest
Group can help you with computing matters and the Convict Connections Group
has the most extensive knowledge of our convict ancestors.
The Society has the largest family history reference library in Queensland
and dedicated volunteers to help members research their ancestry.
