German Interest Group
Since its inception in 1983, the German Research Group has added a collection
of maps, guides, reference books and journals plus family, local, church
and school histories, to the library. The Society now holds probably the
most comprehensive range of German source material in Queensland.
Aims
To foster interest in the history of German immigration, settlement and
culture; to encourage the exchange of information; to offer support and research
assistance to all members with German ancestry.
Membership
The only prerequisite is membership of GSQ. There is no joining fee and
no extra charge to attend Group meetings. Members are welcome to contact
the Secretary for advice and assistance, but please remember to enclose a
stamped addressed envelope with all enquires.
Meetings
Bi-monthly meetings are held at the GSQ Resource Centre
on the last Sunday of odd-numbered months. Any changes to meeting dates
are advertised in the German Group pages of Generation and in 'Die Zeitung'

Topics have included archival sources, border changes in Germany and dating
early photographs. Newcomers are always most welcome.

The Group's bi-monthly newsletter, 'Die Zeitung', is published
to coincide with meetings and is available by subscription. The annual
