Explaining Irish Land Records
July 3 @ 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM$15 – $25
Join Bobbie Edes as she introduces Irish land records, from the Freeholders through to the Tithes to Griffiths Valuation and onto the ‘Valuation Revision Lists’ aka the ‘Cancelled and Current Land Books’ in the Republic. The presentation will also cover linking these to your farming ancestors’ census records of 1901 and 1911 and briefly look at Deeds, Estate, and other related records. Hopefully, these records will help you in your endeavours to find exactly where your ancestors lived and how to get maximum results in your searches.
Starting her research in the mid-nineties, Bobbie has now made multiple journeys to Ireland to enjoy the country and extend her Irish ancestry. These trips always involve researching in PRONI for a minimum of two full weeks in each visit as well as trips to her Ancestral home Counties of Down, Fermanagh & Tyrone. In the past, Bobbie has also researched at the local churches of her ancestors, the National Archives of Ireland and the RCB, both in Dublin. Additionally, Bobbie has manned the Irish Help Desk at multiple GSQ Open Days as well as assisting members during her twice-monthly Wednesday morning Zoom groups. Bobbie coordinates the GSQ Facebook Page and is the GSQ Blog Editor.
