April 21 @ 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
$25 - $40
Presenter: Bobbie Edes
Bobbie will cover Irish Land record concentrating on Griffith’s Valuation of Ireland and the following Valuation Revision Lists in depth with a hands on approach during this session. After the talk, there will be step-by-step instructions to take each member through to the location of one of their farming ancestors at the time of Griffith’s valuation. Ancestral homes in villages may also be able to be tracked in some circumstances. If you are feeling left out because you aren’t sure which ancestor is yours, then still come along so that you can learn the process, have a trial run with a random farmer, and get to know the ‘lie of the land’ in your nook of the woods! This talk is particularly handy for those planning an Irish odyssey in the future, but for those not able to, there is always the chance to view it if Mr Google has driven by.
Numbers will be limited and participants are asked to bring their laptops if they have one, or if not, then to indicate when they book that they will be using a GSQ computer.
