Webinar Wednesday: Transcription tools for family historians

December 11 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

$15 – $20

Many of us have encountered the difficulties of trying to translate foreign language documents when we don’t speak the language. How often have we tediously transcribed a will or letter only to find that we have misread important words.

In this webinar, you will learn the latest tools and programs available to translate foreign language documents as well as transcribe documents in order to extract needed information.

Presenter: Cathie Sherwood

Passionate about history and addicted to family history, Cathie has been researching her Irish, English and Scottish ancestors for over forty-five years. Cathie volunteers as a GSQ library assistant one day a week and presents courses. She operates her own professional genealogy business and previously worked in universities for over twenty years, as a lecturer in information technology and education, retiring as an Associate Professor. Cathie has recently completed the Society of Australian Genealogists’ Certificate in Genealogical Research and is now undertaking the Society’s Diploma in Family Historical Studies. In addition, she holds a Master’s degree in Education (by research), two graduate diplomas in information technology, a Bachelor of Arts and a 3 year Diploma in Teaching.

Once you have selected your ticket type(s) and the number of tickets, you will be required to enter the names of the event attendee(s) and their email address. The email address may be used by event presenters to send out information prior to the course.
