The National Archives of Australia is the repository for Australian government records and the source of records of major significance to the family historian.

The National Library of Australia is the country's largest reference library. It describes role as ensuring that documentary resources of national significance are collected, preserved and made accessible.

The Noel Butlin Archives Centre holds the records of industrial organisations, businesses, professional associations, industry bodies and the labour movement. A List of holdings is available online.

Australian War Memorial - The Australian War Memorial is Australia's national memorial to the members of all its armed forces and supporting organisations who have died or participated in the wars of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Queensland State Archives  is custodian of the State's largest and most significant collection of government records and is an invaluable research facility for those researching their family tree, local history or other area of special interest.

The State Library of Queensland is the primary custodian of Queensland’s documentary heritage and has been enriching the lives of Queenslanders for over a century.

New South Wales

Registry of Births, Marriages & Deaths - Early church records (baptismal, marriages and burials) from 1788 to 1855. Birth, death and marriage registrations from 1856.

State Library of NSW - The State Library aims to collect, preserve and make accessible the documentary heritage of NSW. The collections of the Mitchell and Dixson Libraries form an extensive research collection relating to Australia with special emphasis on New South Wales, Antarctica and the South West Pacific.

State Records NSW - State Records is the NSW Government's archives and records management authority.

Chinese Naturalisation Database, New South Wales 1857-1887 - The Chinese Naturalisation Database is based on the Naturalisation records and the Colonial Secretary's Correspondence held by the State Records Office of New South Wales. It consists of 971 entries. Each entry contains eighteen fields of information about each naturalised person.

Society of Australian Genealogists - The SAG has been helping people trace family history for over 80 years.


Victoria

Births, Deaths & Marriages Victoria -  You may search the following on line: Church baptisms, marriages and burials in Victoria from 1836 to 1853. Births from 1853 to 1922, Marriages from 1853 to 1962 and Deaths from 1853 to 1992.

Genealogical Society of Victoria - The Genealogical Society of Victoria was officially formed on 17 March 1941.


Tasmania

New Zealand
