LIST 20 - TROISIEME DIZAINE - BIRTHS FROM MUSTERS
In the course of analysing the various early colonial musters and the
1828 Census, (which are to be found later in this work) numerous
entries were found which could not be positively connected with
any particular set of parents. Entries for 305such names (142 males
& 157 females) are listed.
The information recorded for each child includes:
muster and/or census
year of birth
Christian name
family name
The list is ordered alphabetically by surname.
These Births from Musters account for 4% of the "Troisieme Dizaine".

For this decade males were 47% and females were 52%. In 41 cases the
Christian name was not recorded but 37 were at the Female Orphan
Institute and 1 at the Male Orphan Institute. There were four entries
in the 1822 Muster and two in the 1828 Census where it cannot be
determined if the entry is for a boy or a girl.
A year of birth is unknown for 31 of the entries. Samuel
Harrington is recorded as being born in 1812 in the 1825 Muster and
in 1818 in the 1828 Census.
William Scott and Louisa Watson both may have been duplicated in the
1828 census

1822 98
1825 68
1828 217
Six boys and eight girls appear in both the 1822 Muster and the 1828
Census.
It may well be that some of these names are variations of existing
"Troisieme Dizaine" members. Otherwise these entries are obviously
ripe for further investigation and more family groupings may well
come to light as a result.
Entries on this list have the reference identifier "M-C" on List 1.
