LIST 2 - BIRTHS - MOTHERS NAME ORDER
This list contains the same information as in List 1 with the exception that
it is ordered on the mother's name rather than the father's. There are only
14,338 births listed. Not included in this list, due to the research not
being completed, are the 10,660 cases where the mother's surname is unknown
plus a further 1,116 cases where the mother arrived under her married name,
without her maiden name being known.
The information recorded for each child includes:
date of baptism
date of birth
church of baptism or source of information
Christian name of child
mother's Christian name
mother's maiden name
mother's year of arrival in the colony
mother's ship of arrival in the colony
mother's status upon arrival in the colony
father's Christian name
father's family name
father's year of arrival in the colony
father's ship of arrival in the colony
father's status upon arrival in the colony
parent's civil status at the time of the child's birth
parent's marital status at the time of the child's birth
parent's year & church/country of marriage where applicable
reference identifier
The reference number for those records which have been transcribed
is the sequence number from the baptismal register. For those records which
have not been transcribed it is the State Archives database reference number
which consists of a volume number followed by a sequence number. There is
no reference number listed for records sourced from the burial registers nor
from "The Pioneer Register" project.
The births are listed firstly in alphabetical order on the name of the mother,
secondly in chronological order on the date of her ship of arrival (or date
of birth), thirdly in alphabetical order on the name of the father and finally
in chronological order on her childrens' dates of birth for family groups.
Where the mother's surname has a second name separated by a slash, the
surname after the slash is her married name. In the case of multiple marriages
the surname refers to her latest marriage.
Duplicate entries are indicated by an asterix (*). These have been preserved
on the list in order to be able to locate the relevant baptism on the duplicated
church register.
