LIST 11 - BAPTISMS - DEUXIEME DIZAINE - VAN DIEMENS LAND

 
 
This is a list of children presumably born in Van Diemens Land but who were 
not baptized at either St David's Hobart or St John's Launceston. There are 
47 members of the "Deuxieme Dizaine" on the list, 26 boys and 21 girls.
 
The entries come from one of two sources either; CSO 1/122 which is from a 
census of children conducted in 1827; or MM1 which is from a series of musters 
of children conducted for Port Dalrymple in 1820 and 1821. There are 28 of 
the former and 18 of the latter.
 
The information recorded for each child includes: 
 
 year of birth 
 Christian name
 family name 
 location
 reference identifier
 
The list is ordered alphabetically by surname. Regretfully only the year of 
birth is known. The place of residence refers to the location of the child at 
the time of the census or muster.
 
These births account for 1% of the "Deuxieme Dizaine".
 
The entry of George Mills comes from "Van Diemens Land Heritage" a biographical 
and genealogical index edited by Neil Chick composed of entries from private 
family sources.
 
It is possible that Mary Ogle might be the daughter of William Ogle but there 
is no collaborating evidence at this time that the family ever went to Van Diemens 
Land.
