In 2025, Lee has three adult children and four grandchildren, located across Queensland and New South Wales, and travels to new destinations to live every three years with her beloved husband who is still a serving member of the Australian Army.
As well as writing, Lee enjoys researching family history, making photo-books, reading, watching movies and series of many genres, and the company of her German shepherd dog and Siamese cat.
Lee’s first book, Paterson’s Plains, was published in September 2023, and Vron in 2024.
About the books:
Paterson’s Plains
Born in Liverpool Ann Clark resorts to theft to save her father’s life but finds herself on the other side of the world at the Parramatta Gaol.
Private Alexander ‘Sandy’ McKenzie from the Scottish Highlands is a career soldier who finds himself in Sydney with his Commanding Officer and now Colonial Governor Lachlan Macquarie. Thinking that love had passed him by he falls for the pregnant convict girl who catches his eye in the grounds of Parramatta Gaol.
And so begins a saga that takes the reader to Sydney, Newcastle and Launceston from 1810 until 1839 as the story of Ann and her children comes to life.
This is a story of love, loss and courage during the forming of a Nation.
Read about the incredible lives of everyday people who happened to live at the same time as many of Australia’s prominent historical characters.
Their story is interwoven with those already well known in Australian history.
Vron
1832 – John, from humble beginnings is working as a footman at Lambeth Palace when he is unwittingly set up for a crime he would never have thought of committing.
1841 – Amelia is living in poverty on the streets of Edinburgh but makes a plan to escape her lot and travel to the land of hopes and dreams that she keeps hearing about. Amelia witnesses Australia’s most important textile, the Rajah quilt being given to Lady Jane Franklin in 1841.
Fate throws them together at the expansive colonial estate of Vron near Launceston in Van Diemen’s Land. But on their path to happiness, they must face the cruelties and hardships of the convict system. They eventually become some of the first settlers of Bishopsbourne and witness the changing tide in colonial politics and the birth of a new nation.
Read about two very different characters who were thrown together and made a life for themselves, better than they could ever have imagined in Britain. The story of the Church of England’s beginnings in Tasmania unfolds and you will learn about many of the interesting early church characters, the early politicians and landowners, as well as the story of Christ College which is the oldest tertiary institution in Australia and is now a residential college of the University of Tasmania.
This story is based on the true life story of the author’s third great grandparents.
The Journey
1845 – Disenchanted by the poverty in their native Prussia, Fritz and Ilse Boehm take up the offer of free passage to join Pastor Kavel’s congregation at Light Pass in the newly formed South Australia.
1868 – Henry Luhrs is employed by Gottleib Klemke to help on his Trek from Light Pass to the Riverina. But Henry is in love and travels back home to marry his beloved Maria.
1883 – The Luhrs family of Henry, Maria and their children, move to Walla Walla north of Albury to meet up with family and friends from Henry’s first Trek.
1887 – Traugott and Eleanore Boehm and their children follow the Luhrs’ to Walla Walla, along with Eleanore’s sister Selma and her husband Christian Damschke, and her brother Bill Joppich and his wife Anna.
Read about the lives of the early German settlers and their migration across the country; and the challenges and joys that they encountered in their everyday lives, set against the politics and changes of the day.
