Queanbeyan Ticket of Leave Index
SRNSW Reel 1261 Vol4/5651 has been indexed by Convict Connections. It is a Register of Tickets of Leave 1840-1848.
There are many assigned servants listed in the Register. Some had tickets of leave to travel to the area, and others had to obtain passports and, by law, they all had to attend regular musters. This area was a long way from the authorities in Sydney and most of the squatters’ runs on which these assignee’s worked were remote. Too many days would be lost if the leave and passport holders had to travel to and from quarterly musters at Magistrates Courts or Police Stations. The Register includes information about whether or not the men attended the musters themselves or whether letters were sent by the employer.
