Convict Connections
including early colonial Australian
Convict Connections was formed as an Interest Group of the Genealogical
Society of Queensland Inc. to accommodate the growing interest and enthusiasm
in our colonial heritage.
It was decided that the Group would endeavour to service the needs of members
whose ancestral path followed the penal system
through transportation to Australia.
We now have our own dedicated website at www.convictconnections.org.au
Aims and Objectives
Convict Connections aim to provide a specialist forum for members
with a particular interest in convicts
and our colonial heritage,
to share and exchange information, achieve a wider knowledge and
foster a greater appreciation of those who suffered the horrors of
transportation.
Membership
Convict Connections membership is available free to all members
of the Genealogical Society of Queensland Inc. Members with convict
lineage may become Ticketed Members after proof of descent has been
established. A 'Ticket of Proof' is available to members who wish
to provide certified evidence of convict descent.
Applications must be made by request, and lodged on an official
claim form accompanied by clearly legible photocopies of birth, marriage
and death certificates
or other archival proof
so as to satisfy the Officer of Claims and on receipt of $5 for each
claim made.

of each even numbered
