CHANGES TO THE LDS FILM HIRE

To assist members who do not wish to order online GSQ will provide the following service:

·         Orders will be accepted at the Society; GSQ will then order the film/fiche online and make the payment using the Society’s credit card.

·         Individuals will be notified via telephone, and if no response, by letter and/or mail when their film/fiche arrives.

·         New Fees
(1)
if ordering online at familysearch.org, individuals will pay $7.75 (per film/fiche) direct to the LDS.  When viewing the film at GSQ, a once only service fee of $2.20 will be charged for each film/fiche order
(2)
if ordering at GSQ, film hire fee will be a total of $9.50

·         We can now order microfiche resources.  Once received, they will not need to be returned, but will become part of the Society’s holdings.

Members will be kept informed of any further changes via the Enews, notices on notice boards in the Resource Centre and an update provided in the March Generation.

GSQ receives grant from Q150 Anniversary

We’re pleased to announce that the Society has been granted $10,000 from the Q150 fund for a project to update the Muster Roll which was originally produced in 1988. Russell Fraser is Project Manager. One of the outcomes of this successful submission is the need to have a large band of volunteers available who will do the necessary data entry of the biographical information. Our plans are that volunteers will be able to do the data entry in the comfort of their own homes. Helpers will be provided with a copy of the program for loading on their own computer. We encourage all our members as well as those interested in genealogy and family history to consider giving some time to this project. Please phone (07) 3891 5085) or email GSQ (gsq1@optusnet.com.au) - Josephine Nolan will be delighted to hear from you.
